About MAJAL
MAJAL is a design school based in Beirut, Lebanon, offering three certificates and multiple courses and workshops in design and creation. We specialize in jewelry making, textile design and business for creatives.
MAJAL is a mission-driven school. Our target is to facilitate career opportunities in Lebanon by empowering people through a holistic approach to design and creation. To this end, our expert
instructors deliver higher education curricula in a workshop setting. During our six-week courses, they instill students with solid technical skills, design sophistication and entrepreneurial reasoning.
Our vision is a more inclusive and more specialized design scene in Lebanon. We teach advanced creation and design curricula but make them accessible to most, both in terms of pricing and in terms of entrance requirements.
MAJAL courses are not accredited in a bid to keep prices affordable. We believe that, in design and creation, your portfolio supersedes your degree. While we keep our courses within reach, we provide tangible results rather than international validation. More than 80 of our students have established their own business and several were hired full-time, including at Elie Saab. We partner with major market players in Lebanon and beyond to offer our students multiple resources and take them places. Our certificate students get access to internships at renowned design houses, multiple supplier offers and complimentary access to finance, branding and business advice. How we started
MAJAL was established in October 2018 as Espaceفن with three courses, three instructors and nine students. Today, we offer over 35 courses, work with dozens of specialized instructors and have graduated more than 1100 students from our classes.
Our two founders, Nour Tannir and Yasmine Dabbous, bring to MAJAL a long experience in design, art, branding and curriculum building.
Tannir is an interior architect specialized in interior styling, product design and turnkey projects. She is the founder of two design brands. Dabbous (PhD) is a visual culture artist and researcher whose work has been exhibited at galleries in Beirut, London, Washington DC and New York. A published academic, Dabbous was formerly an assistant professor at LAU, where she helped build and set up several programs at the Communication Arts department.
Our studios are located in Ein Mreisseh, Beirut, right at the door of the capital.
